Quality is induced by non uniformed cooling and the non uniform cooling occurs on the surfaces where non uniform cross section occurs like in H beams and I beams. Good quality finished product consists of mill scale covered on the surface which at high temperatures form an oxide. Process of smooth surface cleaning or pickling is used to remove the mill scale for obtaining a smooth surface. Rail tracks are produced from the steel strips by the process of hot rolling.
